Hundreds of models thronged the auditions of upcoming fashion extravaganza Delhi Fashion Week-2009 on Thursday.

The Delhi Fashion Week-2009 will take place from February 19 to February 24 and will be organised by Fashion Foundation of India (FFI).

This all India model hunt was spearheaded by an eminent jury comprising of designers Rohit Bal, Malini Ramani, Atsu Sekhose and Alpana Mittal, adman Prahlad Kakkar, leading models Fleur Xavier and Neha Kapoor and fashion photographer Tarun Khiwal.

Delhi based designer Malini Ramani spoke at length about the qualities she was looking for in a model.

“I am looking for a good model and a good model has many qualities you can””t see them all in upfront 30 seconds. What we are looking instantly is their walk, they must have good legs, good basic body structure and that works for current clothes,” Ramani said.

Fashion Model, Fleur Xavier said that a model needs to have several qualities and revealed that she did spot some interesting faces.

“I think a lot of them were good and I think it”’’s important as a model not just to be able to walk only well and be bad in other aspects. It is important to walk well, have a good body, it is important to look relatively decent or may have a unique face. It”’’s important that all these components come together in order to be a good model.

The DVF Keva Dress

I always knew that Ms. von Furstenburg was a genius with the wrap dress, but I thought that my one printed blue DvF classic wrap dress would be enough to quench my thirst for DvF. Unfortunately, she has proven me wrong with the Keva dress.
I first caught a glimpse of it online window shopping on Shopbop. It had only just gone on sale and I thought, aww what a pretty dress. Then the other day, I saw it at a department store and I must say, it looks even better in person! Naturally I simply HAD to try it on, even though the only one on the rack was about 2 sizes too big. And it felt absolutely beautiful. It is made out of this wonderfully flowy chiffon material that moves with you as you swirl. Most of the time with these kind of dresses, the chest area would be too big for me. But from the looks of it, with the right size, it promises to fit well on me (or so I imagine). And best thing of all? With this print, this is the perfect dress for Spring. The color is dark enough that you can pair it with tights for colder weathers. But the material and design is just light enough that it will still be great for summer! The print is also not so recognizable that it will be over next season. How awesome is this dress?

Unfortunately for me, I analyze too long and now they are sold out on Shopbop (it was half price!). I’ve already checked the DvF website, Saks and Neiman Marcus. But alas, it looks like this dress is lost to me.

Als Gaga mit der Limo vorfuhr, begann bereits das wilde Paparazzi-Geschreie - und wir waren mittendrin.

Als hätte sie ein wenig zu viel grünes Zeug geraucht, bekam sie erst die Tür nicht auf, liess dann ihre Tasche fallen und antwortete auf ein gerufenes "Lady Gaga, smile": "I don't smile". Wie lustig sowas ist, haben wir an erster Front in Videoform festgehalten.

Das Fotografengetümmel erschwerte unsere Suche, dafür stand aber plötzlich Freja Beha Erichsen vor uns, die sich in aller Seelenruhe ankleidete. Nach einem geknipsten Bild verwickelte uns das dänische Supermodel in ein Gespräch, ob wir Zwillinge seien. Und wenn ein Model schon mal in Redelaune ist, sollt auch ihr etwas davon haben - also wurde ich für ein kleines Videointerview neben sie geschubst. Leicht benebelt hing ich an ihren Lippen und konnte mich bei so viel Schönheit kaum auf die nächste Frage konzentrieren.

Die New York Fahion Week erscheint wie eine einzige Farce, schliesslich kümmert sich eigentlich niemand so recht um die gezeigte Mode, wenn es einen anständigen Anlass gibt, endlich wieder Party zu machen. Nach einem privaten Dinner gaben sich Jared Leto, Milla Jovovich, Georgia May Jagger oder Sasha Pivovarova im Jane Hotel die Ehre und tanzten zu The Horrors, Mark Ronson und den Misshapes...

Irina Lazareanu wird nachgesagt, dass sie den Pony vor einigen Jahren wieder in die Modelbranche eingeführt hat, der dann ja auch schnell zu ihrem Markenzeichen wurde. Take a trip back in time with her, as the New York Transit Museum presents “Last Day of the Myrtle Avenue El: Photographs by Theresa King.” Opened in 1888 and closed in 1969, the Myrtle Avenue El ran from downtown Brooklyn to Queens, passing through Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Ridgewood, and Middle Village. King’s photographs of its final day pays loving tribute to the wooden train cars and antiquated stations which still hold fond memories for riders. The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards were held in Los Angeles this evening. The stars of the small screen gathered at the Nokia Theater to honor excellence in television. Neil Patrick Harris
was the host, and overall did a decent job (at least Jeff Probst thought so). The evening was filled with upsets when it came to who won certain awards, but the best part is always checking out what people are wearing on the red carpet!

The stars did not disappoint when they got dressed up for the Emmys. Blake Lively and Hayden Panettiere were visions of beauty in their red dresses. Leighton Meester donned a white, low-cut
Grecian style gown. Rose Byrne wore a tulle dress embellished with crystals, and it was clear she felt like a princess. If only Byrne had fixed her hair! Jamie-Lynn Sigler wore a gold dress with a low back and looked very sexy.

Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet arrivals 2009: See Kim Kardashian, Mila Kunis, and more

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are tonight! Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris (who is also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), the show will provide lots of entertainment tonight. At the moment, the stars are arriving and walking down the red carpet into the Nokia Theater. Many of the young and famous stars of Hollywood are in attendance, like Mila Kunis and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.

The show will be filled with excitement, starting with an opening number performed by Harris. Presenters will include Leighton Meester, Tina Fey, and a host of others. 'Dancing With The Stars' favorites (and recent exes) Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chrmerovskiy will perform a dance. Several stars have already promised a few "Kanye West moments" if they don't win, like Jeff Probst (nominated for Outstanding Host of a Reality Show).

Twilight actress Ashley Greene to be celebrity fashion correspondent at VMAs

The red carpet for the Video Music Awards just got a little hotter. MTV announced today that Twilight star Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen, will be lending a hand by being a celebrity fashin correspondent. Her fellow costars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, are already slated to appear.

During the preshow for the VMAs, Greene will be on the red carpet meeting and greeting the A-list celebrities that come waltzing along. She will be reporting on what everyone is wearing and chat with people as they enter Radio City Music Hall. That's quite a gig!

Greene is an excellent choice for MTV as a fashion correspondent. Her sense of style is well known and she is frequently seen sporting the latest styles and always looks amazing.

Natural beauty: Bangladeshi police get makeup tips

New Bangladeshi police recruits are being given beauty tips so that they can become world-class leaders and the scheme has proved very popular, according to law enforcement chiefs.

Kaniz Almas Khan, who runs a chain of beauty parlours in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, was invited to give grooming advice to potential officers and said the men were just as keen as the women to get sprucing tips.

Mazharal Haque, vice principal of Sharda Police Academy in Rajshahi, said: "We invited a top beautician to give lessons on personal grooming to the newly-recruited police officers so they could become world-class police leaders."

How to choose the right perfume was also a feature in the workshops and the vice principal added that the idea was to make the recruits fit to serve in United Nations peacekeeping missions anywhere around the globe.

Dandruff: Twice a week, heat pure coconut oil and apply it on the scalp at night, using cotton wool. Leave it on overnight. Next morning, apply the juice of a lemon on the scalp and wash your hair after half an hour. Apply henna once a week.

Lifeless Hair: Once or twice a week, heat pure coconut oil and apply it on the scalp and hair. Then dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the towel around your head like a turban. Keep it on for five minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap three or four times. This helps the hair and the scalp absorb the oil better. Use a mild herbal shampoo. After each shampoo, apply a conditioner, massaging it lightly into the hair. Leave it on for two minutes before washing it off with water. You can have henna treatment thrice a month, adding four teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, two raw eggs, two teaspoons of oil and enough curd to the henna powder. It will make your hair look healthy and lustrous.

Grey Hair: Amla is said to check greying. Have the juice of one raw amla after adding it to a glass of water. Also try adding amla to the henna powder. Henna turns white hair reddish brown. It will not colour dark hair. Soak a handful of dry amla in about two cups of water overnight. Next morning, strain the water, but do not throw the water away. Grind the amla. To the henna powder, add the ground amla, four teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, two raw eggs and enough amla water, so that the henna can be mixed into a thick paste. Apply it on the hair, covering the entire head. Keep it on for two hours and wash it off with water. It will also add shine and substance to the hair. Ask your doctor to prescribe Vitamins B-Complex and C.

Oily Hair, Hair Loss: Excessive oiliness of the scalp can lead to hair loss. Wash your hair daily, using very little shampoo � one teaspoon for long hair and half teaspoon for short hair. Dilute it with a little water and use it. After washing, add the juice of a lemon to half a mug of water and use it as a last rinse. Have henna treatment once a week. Add four teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, two raw eggs and enough tea water to the henna powder and mix it into a thick paste. Apply it on the hair and wash it off after an hour. If you do not wish to use egg, add more tea water. For tea water, boil used tealeaves in water. Cool and strain before using. Include fresh fruits, raw salads and sprouts in your daily diet. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and have it first thing in the morning.

Home Hair Cleanser

Take a handful each of dried reetha, amla and shikakai. Soak them in one litre water overnight. Next day, simmer the herbs on a low fire till the water reduces by half. Allow the mixture to cool and then strain it with a clean cloth. Use the liquid to wash hair. This quantity should be enough for four to five washes. Refrigerate it. Make small quantities at a time.

Beauty Recipe

Vegetables
Three to five servings daily. Try to include one serving of raw, leafy greens.

Meat
Have no more than three three ounce servings a day. Cut off all fat. Try to make two servings of turkey or chicken. One serving of fish a day is ideal.

Fruits
Two to three servings daily. A 1/2 cup of chopped or sliced fruit is a serving.

Dairy
At least two servings daily. A serving would be eight ounces of milk or yogurt.

Fats
Salad dressing, cooking oil, butter, and mayonnaise should be limited to two servings a day.

You should choose foods that you enjoy, of course, but you need to include the following:

Wheat Germ

Women who wear makeup should carry out a routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing each evening, as well as washing the face in the morning. Cleansing will remove old make-up and the grime and grease that have been accumulated during the day.

* Remove mascara with a cotton bud dipped in eye-dipped in eye-cleansing lotion. To make the job easier keep your hair off your face.
* Remove the eyeshadow by gently wiping it off with a pad of clean cotton wool moistened with eye-cleansing lotion.
* Pour a little face cleansing cream into the palm of one hand and dab it generously over the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks — using two fingers of the other hand.
* Massage the cream into the skin, starting under the throat, using a gentle upward motion.
* Continue massaging the cream up to the forehead, using the fingertips.
* Gently massage the cream from the eyes to the nose.
* Massage cream back over the chin, which is particularly prone to blackheads. Use the index finger.
* Remove the cream from the face with tissue pads in each hand. Start under the chin and work over the cheeks and on to the forehead.

2. TONING

Toners remove all traces of dirt, make-up or cleanser that remain after cleansing.

* Immediately after cleansing apply toner to the forehead and cheeks on a pad of corron wool
* Apply the toner to the crevices around the nose.
* Apply the toner to the crevices around the chin.

3. MOISTURIZING

Without moisture, the skin will not remain smooth and supple. The face is exposed to the drying effect of the weather, so moisturizers — which form a film over the skin — contain and augment the natural moisture.

* Using the tips of the fingers, dot moisturizing cream lightly all over the face.
* Press the fingers of both hands into the centre of the forehead and work the cream slowly outwards. Pat the cream gently around the eyes.
* Work the cream around the jawline, chin and mouth with the middle fingers of both hands.
* Massage the cream over the throat with alternating hands, using upward strokes from collar-bone to chin.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ), however, imparts the skills required for students to market themselves successfully.

Tourism Management students enrolled for the Module in Events Management, returned to centre stage with the Around the World Fashion Show at the University's School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH), Auckland Park Bunting Road Campus in October 2008. Mrs Sizeka Rensburg, wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ihron Rensburg, was the patron for this event.

Fury as 12-year-old 'model' fronts world fashion show

The country's Prime Minister John Howard strongly criticised the decision saying it was unacceptable.

He said: "Catapulting girls as young as 12 into something like that is outrageous."

Mr Howard wants Australia to follow the example of Europe and ban models younger than 16 appearing on catwalks.

"There should be age limits, I mean there has to be, we do have to preserve some notion of innocence in our society," he said.

But the 5ft 7ins youngster, who turned 13 yesterday, believed she deserved to win the modelling competition to become the 'face' of the show.

"I believe that I can fit into women's clothes. I can model women's clothes, so I should be able to do it," she said.

"It doesn't matter about age, it matters that you can do the job. Modelling is all I've wanted to do since I was six - I don't think I'm too young."

Maddison has signed an exclusive media deal and contracted an experienced celebrity agent since the furore broke.

Her mother Michelle Gabriel has defended her child's right to model and demanded an apology from the Prime Minister.

"I believe the Prime Minister is getting very doddery," she said.

Celebrity Fashion Designers on Gossip Girl!

Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman were seen filming cameos this week for the upcoming season of Gossip Girl, according to a report in Women's Wear Daily.

The designers made their way to Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, N.Y., where they shot separate scenes for an episode that will air Monday, October 5.

While reps for the hit series are keeping their lips sealed about how Burch and Chapman figure into the Gossip Girl plot in this particular episode, they did say that part of the CW series will take place on a set made to look like Tory Burch’s office.

Although both designers frequently run into socially active cast members Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick on the New York party circuit, they seemed to enjoy working with the stars in an official capacity.

Hirsch International Corp. Receives Nasdaq Notification Letter

Hirsch International Corp. (“Hirsch”) (NASDAQ: HRSH, http://www.hirschinternational.com) announced today that on September 16, 2009 it received a letter from the Nasdaq Stock Market notifying it of its failure to maintain a minimum closing bid price of $1.00 per share for its shares of Class A Common Stock for the prior 30 consecutive business days as required by Nasdaq Stock Market Listing Rule 5550(a)(2) (the “Bid Price Rule”). The letter provides that Hirsch has until March 15, 2010 to regain compliance with the Bid Price Rule by maintaining a closing bid price of $1.00 per share for a minimum of ten consecutive business days. If Hirsch does not regain compliance with the Bid Price Rule by March 15, 2010, the Nasdaq Stock Market will determine whether Hirsch meets the Nasdaq Capital Market initial listing criteria except for the Bid Price Rule.
